About: About

I've spent the last 20+ years advising and supporting leaders in government agencies, Fortune 500 corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations. I founded L. L. Lauder, LLC in 2006 after several rewarding years as a strategy consultant at Accenture, IBM, and PwC. I have a BA in English and Politics from Mt. Holyoke College, an MBA from the University of Virginia (Darden), and an Executive Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University. A military “brat,” I’m no stranger to ambiguity and change. Growing up overseas shaped my world view and I’m undoubtedly more empathetic, perceptive, and curious as a result. I now live in Arlington, VA with my husband and our sleepy cat. I’m also a competitive rower and volunteer leader at Potomac Boat Club.

Coaching Philosophy

I have been a competitive athlete for most of my life, which has shaped my way of thinking about building and sustaining behaviors and competencies in all arenas. It also offers an analogy that resonates with many people who are new to executive coaching. Below are a few basic tenets that describe my approach.

Set clear goals

It’s hard to get somewhere if you don’t know where you’re going – take the time to identify your goals, purpose, and priorities.

Falling isn’t failing

If you haven’t done something before, it’s unlikely you’ll be great the first time you try – try anyway – it is literally the only way to achieve something.

Be open to change

If you have tried doing something one way, given it a chance, and it’s not working, try something new – personal preference and theory are great, but what works in the real world is what works.

Hard work pays off

Even those who are the most talented and gifted at a thing don’t succeed without commitment and practice and probably even some discomfort.

A coach can make all the difference

All of this is easier with a third-party who is focused on you and has your best interests at heart. A coach gives you a perspective other than your own, highlights strengths you may take for granted, keeps you on track when you are unfocused, brings fresh ideas and techniques for achieving your goals, challenges your inner critic, and pushes you to stretch yourself beyond where you would go alone.

How I Work

I Embrace My Clients’ Needs

I remember that I’m here to help my clients achieve their goals. I strive to understand my clients’ needs as deeply as they do while bringing a fresh unbiased perspective, experience-based insights, and innovative approaches to solving their business challenges. I measure my success by their successes.

I Believe in Collaboration

I treat each client relationship as a partnership where trust, open communication, and authenticity are prized. I capitalize on our combined knowledge, skills, and expertise to achieve lasting business success.

I Deliver on My Commitments

I build long-term trusted relationships with my clients by delivering what I say I will, when I say I will, and following-up to ensure the end goal is achieved.
