Consulting: About Me

For the past 20+ years, I’ve helped organizations develop visionary strategies, design and deliver marketable products and services, streamline operations, and create stimulating and productive work environments. I'd be delighted to explore how we might work together.

Consulting: About Me

The Difference Between Consulting and Coaching

The main difference between consulting and coaching is that consulting advises the client what to do while coaching helps the client find their own answers. Consulting is focused on the organization while coaching is focused on the leader. Consulting is information based. Coaching is relationship based. The two disciplines can complement one another well, as one informs the other, but because confidentiality is so central to the coaching relationship, it’s important always to be clear about which role I’m playing and what information I will use or share.

Areas of Expertise

Strategic Planning

Strategic planning considers all the things your organization could do and establishes those things it should do based on opportunity, capability, and resources. By definition, strategy is about narrowing focus and concentrating resources; it demands hard decisions. Strategic planning is the methodical process of understanding the current business environment, assessing your current capabilities and constraints, clarifying your organizational goals, making trade-off decisions based on those priorities, and preparing to redeploy your resources in a way that supports those decisions.

Change Management

Strategy determines what needs to be done to achieve success; process and technology are the tools that get you there; and people get it done. These elements should reinforce one another and in an organization that is aligned, they do. Change management is about identifying areas of misalignment and pulling the levers that impact people’s ability to do the right thing for the organization.

Communications Management

You can’t act on information you don’t know about. Organizations looking to implement a strategy, transform culture, or change behavior need to engage the right audiences through the right channels with the right messages at the right times. Communications Management helps plan, develop, and deliver audience-driven communications that increase awareness, boost engagement, create buy-in, and maintain credibility among employees.

Business Process Re-engineering/Digital Transformation

BPR/DT is about the analysis, design, documentation, and communication of workflows and business processes within an organization to improve productivity, cycle times, and quality.
